Lab member, Nada, had her lovely baby, Matilda, in December 2013. Matilda was born just before this Christmas Day and was a really wonderful gift for Nada's life and her family. Let's bless them at this moment!

We were just awarded a one-year research grant from Translational Research Program of Children's hospital Boston. This grant will support our research project on ALK tumor vaccine in Neuroblastoma. The funding will begin on July 1, 2013 and will continue through June 30, 2014.
Lab PI, Roberto, was just notified that he has been selected to receive the “Francesco De Luca” International Prize 2013 for cancer research from the prestigious Academia dei Lincei in Rome, Italy (http://www.lincei.it). The academy is one of the world’s oldest scientific academies; Galileo Galilei was among the first scientists inducted as a member of the academy. The prize will be presented to Dr. Chiarle by the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, on June 21, 2013.
This work was finished by collaboration of several groups respectively from Europe, MIT, UTMB and our lab. The published paper brightly presented a novel genome-wide approach to map DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) at nucleotide resolution by a method termed BLESS (direct in situ Breaks Labeling, Enrichment on Streptavidin and next-generation Sequencing).
